FILARE, LEGGERE, IMPARARE SEMPRE... (SPINNING, READING, ALWAYS LEARNING...)

Vento gelido e neve fuori e raffreddore potente, clima di tranquillità passate le feste e riposo forzato; quali condizioni migliori per starsene al calduccio davanti al pc a buttare giù qualche idea e mettere un po' d'ordine tra i propositi creativi.

In queste feste sono stata molto pigra, non ho lavorato quasi per nulla, ho solo iniziato e già disfatto tre volte una tutina per il cucciolo...

Nonostante questo, in realtà il mese di dicembre è globalmente stato produttivo: ho venduto due sciarpe che avevo messo su Etsy e un set di sciarpa+moffole ordinatomi su richiesta da un amico per la fidanzata.
Sono contentissima!
Anche perchè ho iniziato queste produzioni senza avere grosse aspettative o pianificazioni quindi vediamo come procede; nel frattempo mi sono venute un po' di idee per il "mercato locale", quello su internet mi sembra sempre un po' freddo e così enorme in cui muoversi e poi credo che alcuni prodotti possano essere apprezzati meglio vedendoli dal vivo, toccandoli etc, insomma cose che tramite pc più di tanto non si possono trasmettere.

Bene, passando ai fatti (o meglio ai manufatti), in questi giorni mi sto dedicando allo "studio" e ad imparare nuove tecniche di filatura che ho trovato nei due stupendissimi libri ricevuti per Natale:

- INTERTWINED



- CREATIVE SPINNING



Sono chiarissimi nelle spiegazioni e pieni di idee e foto da togliere il fiato; dato che diverse persone mi hanno chiesto lumi su come ho iniziato a filare e quali sono state le mie fonti di riferimento (approposito, continuate, mi fa piacere se posso essere utile, e magari se mi passa la pigrizia sarò più dettagliata nel dare spiegazioni attraverso il blog!!), preciso che consiglierei questi libri a chi ha già un po' di manualità con la filatura (sia fatta con lo spindle che con la wheel)
perchè le istruzioni danno un po' per scontate le basi.
Tra i due, Intertwined in particolare mostra come sperimentare filati artistici unendo le fibre (stoffa, nastro di audiocassette ....!) ed i modelli più strani e audaci. Creative Spinning invece si basa soprattutto su come esaltare le proprietà delle diverse fibre disponibili in commercio, attraverso tecniche di filatura o abbinamenti specifici.
Mi sembra di avere davanti un banchetto in cui assaggiare tutte le prelibatezze che si possono immaginare!

Icy wind and snow outside, and a strong cold, quietness once these holidays have passed through and to be forced to rest: what better conditions to stay warm at my pc, trying to write down a few ideas and putting a bit of order among my creative intentions.

In these holidays I've been so lazy, didn't actually work at all, I only started and unraveled three times a suite for my puppy...

Despite of this, December was actually quite successful: I sold 2 scarves put on Etsy and a set made of mittens+scarf custom ordered from a friend for his girlfriend.
I'm so delighted!
Especially because I started this production without particular plans or expectations, so we'll wait and see what comes next; in the meantime, I'm thinking of a couple of ideas for the "local market", as the internet one still seems to me a bit cold and so huge to move within, and I believe that some garments should be touched and felts directly to be appreciated... some features cannot really be correctly caught through a PC.

Well, talking about facts (or better handiworks) in these days I'm fully dedicated to "studying" and learnig new spinning techniques I found in the two amazing books received for Christmas:
- INTERTWINED
- CREATIVE SPINNING

They're very clear in explanations and full of pictures and ideas to leave without breath; as some people asked me how I started to spin and which were my references, I'd better say i'd suggest these books to people that already have a little confiance with spinning (either with spindle or with a wheel), as the instructions just give basics for granted.
Between the two, Intertwined in particular shows how to experiment artistic yarns using the strangest fibers (audio tapes or fabrics) and patterns. Creative Spinning, instead, focuses above all on how to exalt the properties of different available fibers, applying specific spinning techniques and combining them.

It seems to me to face a big banquet in which I can taste any delicatessen imaginable!!

PENSIERI DA VIGILIA (EVE THOUGHTS)

La vigilia di Natale, non riesco a credere che sia già arrivata e che sia passato così tanto tempo dall'ultimo post. Come ogni anno questo periodo è volato, anzi forse più veloce del solito.
Presa da pacchetti, ordini, regali lanosi e altre robine per il piccolo, mi sono calata molto nella parte dell'elfo laborioso di Babbo Natale, e in un attimo OOOPS eccoci qua!

Il fatto è che nonostante abbia un bel po' di novità da raccontare e mostrare, la pancia mi rende mooolto svagata, non riesco tanto a concentrarmi senza perdermi in fantasie, pensieri e sogni ad occhi aperti he he.

Intanto penso che il blog compie un anno a breve, per cui con gli auguri di Natale approfitto per ringraziare tutti quelli che sono passati di qua, per sbaglio o per curiosità, tutti quelli che sono poi tornati a leggere, e che con i loro commenti mi hanno aiutata a perseverare. Quando ho iniziato non credevo arrivare a questo punto davvero.
Come spesso accade la vita ci sorprende senza che ce ne accorgiamo, sempre che la stiamo vivendo con sufficiente intensità... per me quest'anno è stato così: se guardo indietro posso solo sorridere a tutte le emozioni e i pensieri che questo spazio ha portato in me, e sorridere ancora di più a tutto quanto verrà nel prossimo anno... sono curiosa vorrei sbirciare nei prossimi mesi, come faccio con i regali sotto l'albero - tasto i pacchetti, li scuoto, non resisto!

ECCO UN CALDO, LANOSO PENSIERO PER TUTTI...

Christmas Eve, can't belive it's already come, and that so much time 's already passed snce my last post here. As for every year, time has literally flown, perhaps even more this time.
Taken by parcels, orders, woollen gifts and other creations for my baby, I really identified with a plodding Santa's elf, and OOOPS here we are!
Although I have quite many news to tell and show, my pot belly makes me really veeery distrated, I can't concentrate on oone thing without starting to fantasize or daydream he he he.

First of all, anyhow, I thought that the Blog is about to be one year old... so with Christmas wishes I'd like to thank all the people that passed here, by mistake or for curiosity, all the people that returned to read more, and with their comments helped me to go on with this project. When I began this adventure I actually didn't expect to arrive at this point.

As it often happens, life makes surprises without us to notice them, in case we're living with enough intensity... this year it was like this to me: if I look back, I can only smile to all the emotions and thoughts that this space brought to me, and smile even more to all the things to come next year. How much I'd like to peek into one of coming months, as I do with gifts under the Christmas Tree - I touch and sake them, definitely can't resist!
